Hello,I have a 2005 dodge ram with 4.7 Ltr & about 100000 miles on vehicle. My problem is that the AC sometimes blows warm air at idle. The condenser fan will sometimes run at idle, but most times will not and AC blows warm air ? When the fan runs , AC is cold ? thank you. Jesta

Could be the fan motor is going bad. It should be running anytime the AC is turned on and the compressor is engaged.

When the fan isn't running, look and make sure your compressor is engaged. If the compressor is engaged take a broom handle and tap on the fan motor. If the fan comes on when you do that, replace the condenser fan.

You're going to have to troubleshoot this while the problem is present. It could be an issue with the relay. the motor, the wiring or even an issue with the pressure sensor reading at the PCM. You may need a scan tool to look at that.

Thanks Guys. I purchased a new fan motor. Just didn't want to go thru hassle of changing it if there was a relay or other elec. problem. Thanks again. Jesta

Yes, there is a relay and many other possibilities so make sure you test that motor first.

You also may be in for a bit of a surprise when you attempt to change that. The refrigerant has to be recovered and the condenser removed with the fan so if you don't have a recovery machine, you'd better start looking for a shop that does.

You have a new motor ? Can you unplug the cable from the existing motor and plug it into the new motor ? For trouble shooting purposes ?

Or unplug the cable and test for 12 VDC with a volt meter or 12 VDC test lite ?

God bless

That isn't going to tell you much of anything because the problem is intermittent to start with.
