I have a '98 Saturn SL1 Manual Transmission and my heater isn't working correctly. I can feel the hot air if I put my hand up to the vents, but no matter how high or low I put it, the amount of air coming out doesn't change; just gets louder. I thought it might be my air filter, but I want to make sure so that I don't waste money. What is the problem?

Re: Hot Air, No Pressure Sign In

If you hear the blower motor get faster but the air volume stays low you may have either a restriction in the ductwork, a duct has separated somewhere under the dash, or the squirrel cage may have come off the motor. The place to start would be to look under the dash with a flashlight and see if there is anything obvious. If not, then remove the blower motor and check to see if it is still intact. You can leave it out and plug it in trying the different speeds to make sure the motor is in fact operating correctly.(Hold the motor by the housing so you don't get hurt). If it is, you probably have something in the duct work that is restricting air flow.
