MO49plus with PAG oil. Sign In

I have a 15 year old car which has R12 based Ac system. I got MO49plus , the retrofit for R12. When I took the car to mechanic, he told that he will wash the coils, check for leakages and use PAG oil. My query is whether MO49 plus is compatible with PAG oil. If yes, which is best ? Mineral oil or PAG oil

Retrofit Considerations

In automotive air-conditioning and stationary refrigeration systems, ISCEON® MO49Plus™ is compatible with traditional and new lubricants. In most cases, no change of lubricant type during retrofit is needed. Refer to the ISCEON49Plus™ Retrofit Guidelines for details. For retrofit of existing R-12 automotive AC systems, minimal modifications are required and a change of lubricant type is usually not required. In some cases, the addition of a small amount of suitable PAG or POE may aid in oil return. Refer to ISCEON® MO49Plus™ Automotive Air-Conditioning Conversion Guidelines for details.

Why are you putting a refrigerant in your system that is designed to replace R-22. R437A is a substitute used for residential air conditioning. It is not on the SNAP list for automotive acceptable substitutes. Why not just use R-134A and ester oil which is probably approved by the manufacture?

It's also listed as a substitute for R12 by the manufacturer.
