New Accumulator Okay to Use?

New Accumulator Okay to Use?

2006 Ford Focus ZX3 2.0 L, just bought new parts to repair air conditioner. The new accumulator does not have caps on both the inlet and the outlet. I have read that these accumulators should be sealed/capped until installation to avoid moisture being absorbed by the dessicant. Is this accumulator okay to install or should I get another one? I only want to do this once.

Personally I would send it back as a defect and get another one. Who knows how long it was exposed to moisture as it made its way from Chawanda.

The alternative to that is to just keep it under vacuum for a longer time to dry it out.

Eternal vacuum AND heat but for the $20 part send it back or get another. Enough troubles without adding to it now,
