No heat on driver side Sign In

2005 Honda Accord Ex 2.4L 4Door 172.220mi.
Will not blow heat on the driver side, but the passenger side will blow cool then it goes cold.

First thing to rule out is if coolant level is full - at radiator and engine not just showing at recovery tank and if not then why not - like where'd it go, a leak of course so find out that if so,

Yes the coolant level is full and the heater core has been replaced. the fan blows the air it's just cold on the driver side and cool/warm on the passenger side if I keep the fan on low. If I turn the fan up high it blows cold air on both sides.

Re: No heat on driver side Sign In

How in the heck do you know it's full now inside the engine and radiator? You don't. Most are hard to fill and have all air out or if a leak or air/vapor is in there erratic heater is a clue of vapor air. Does system hold pressure?

What can happen is low on coolant only some hot coolant makes it to heater and duct carry it to the closest ducts and if part air in there even hot will blow cool to cold just as you said.

There are some other reasons including blend door(s) or now knowing new heater core job might not have gone right?

OK - Some ways to tell include feeling heater hoses, feeling upper radiator hose and squeeze it for sounds of bubbles of air.

How recent is the new heater core job and has it done this since then or do you know for sure?

Temp gauge if asking for heat should warm up to one set spot on gauge also for cold weather and heater use almost all would and may not.

Just picking something easy for you to rule out first then see if we can find out what else. Tons more vehicles do NOT put a cap on the radiator and just use the recovery tank doubling as also pressure tank with pressure cap as well. They can be very difficult to fill if coolant was let out for any reason up to near impossible without some equipment or tricks on some.

Hey - don't think they did this to this car but can passenger choose temp output for heat or air as in a dual control/zone system?

Did you check the heater hot water valve and make sure the cable is attached and it moves when you adjust the temperature from cold to hot? Are both heater hoses that go into the firewall hot when the engine is at operating temperature?

Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
