  post locked   PAG oil confusion??

93 Toyota PU 6 cyl auto R12 to 134A conversion. Have replaced all parts except tubing for liquid lines and have flushed and flushed them.

Managed to find pure, non petroleum silicone grease for O rings for reasonable money at the hardware store!

In reading I am lead to believe that double end capped PAG oil is the best to use. I looked online and found Supercool super premium PAG 46 with dye for reasonable price and ordered.

I recieved the bottle and it says "moisture resistant" not double end capped. I sent a message to the retailer and asked why it said double end capped on their site but the bottle says moisture resistant.

Their reply was that the bottle just had a regular cap with a paper seal under it! Hmmmm OK

I sent an email to the manufacturer and got no response. So I called and was told that they use to call their product double end capped and use the same process as the manufacturers who claim to sell double end capped. But feel that the double end capped name is misleading so dropped it from their advertising.

I did several web searches and found a few sites that refer to Supercool Super premium with Dye as a DEC.

I really want to start putting this back together tomorrow but am confused on this PAG oil.

Any input would be greatly appreciated. Jim

Honestly, the small containers of PAG 46 AC PRO brand seems to work just fine that is common at most part stores. I really wouldn't go all out on trying to determine who makes the best PAG. Really shouldn't do the dye version because you're starting off with a brand new system. Too much dye can cause dye sickness and reduced lubrication. Absolutely no sealer!

After you had it on vacuum for an hour or more, close the valves and turn off the pump. See if it holds vacuum overnight. If it does, it is ready for charging.
