Just to make sure what your meaning. When you put the transmission into drive the compressor clutch turns off, but any other gear, park, or neutral the compressor clutch stays engaged? Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

This sounds like an electrical problem and not the compressor's fault. Have you inspected the engine harness and the wiring from the compressor clutch? If you wiggle harnesses and wiring around, does the clutch disengage? The movement of the engine when you put it into drive could be moving a harness or wiring with issues causing your situation. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
