Startup with A/C on Sign In

My wife has a habit of leaving the A/C on when she shuts her car (94 Saturn SL2) off. She says it makes no difference, but I can definitely hear a difference when she starts it. It sounds like it's straining against that high pressure built up by the compressor, and sometimes it doesn't start right away. With the A/C off it always starts on the first revolution.

Am I making too much of this, or is she putting undue strain on the starter or some other part?

My Opinion and Mine perhaps Only....... Leave the setting where it was! It's way more trouble to change out control panels from being moved too much than a starter. It shouldn't be a big strain on starter at the low turn speed anyway. I've logged way over 10 million miles with this suggestion and NEVER replaced a control panel! Your call,

The compressor clutch circuit is not supposed to be energized while cranking. If yours is, then something is shorted, perhaps in the ignition switch or wiring.

Good point -- I'll look into that.

Thanks.
