Vacuum Pump and Gauges

I’m looking for some advice on vacuum pump and gauges are Harbor Frieght or sets you get from various other retailers or web sites are they any good? I realize you get what you pay for but using on an occasional basis I thought one these units might be worth it. I’ve also looked at used pumps on EBay not sure on a used pump. Just not sure and thought might ask before making a decision.

Exactly. It depends how much you use them.
Anything you buy at Harbor Freight is cheap Chinese made stuff. That doesn't mean it doesn't fill a need. I have bought many things from them that I use OCCASIONALLY.
Just don't be shocked if you use it a few times and it craps out.

Same deal: I do get stuff there, in person and check it out! Some item are actually good some is packaged trash of assorted things. A/C just depends so much that you really can achieve a real and total vacuum it matters totally.
I'm not thrilled with much of anything anymore for true quality up to the gauge that tells you that you did achieve the vacuum you need. OMG what a mess. Try one for period use I suggest test it out.
Really - I'm afraid of accurate gauge readings so use TWO to verify it's real!
China made items are clever now I'm seeing more and more items (assorted stuff) they don't mark where it's made more often just which company distributed it.
Specific to my needs/wants is having two or three of things I really need for assorted reason. OMG it gets costly plus room to put all that junk in a place where it can just be and not wrecked from being wet, cold or too hot when not in use. AYOR on much of anything just be able to return it without hassle is what I'm doing now,

Thankyou for the imput just starting my investigation in into which ac tools I’ll keep looking and thinking before purchasing.

Travis: Forgot, but you can rent a lot of this stuff for 100% deposit for safe return. For some that would totally be a bargain. TMK not allowed in some locations to rent this stuff? I never have I want the stuff for keeps different game,

Try Mityvac it's realiable and not too expensive.

He's talking about an AC vacuum pump, not a hand vacuum tester.
