hi there well im not sure what the problem is i have a 99 ford f-150 4x4 the ac takes along time to cool down im pretty sure that ac needs serviced but when i come to a stop or am slowing down i can hear like a door close under the dash someone told me it could be a vacuum leak some where also im not sure if it has anything to do with it but my heater will only blow cool air also could it be a control switch as well that is running both heater and ac air blowing problem. its hot here in az and would like to address the ac problem first but if it is something that affects both ac and heater i could kill to birds with one stone hopefully

The vacuum controls operate the mode doors so what that would do is redirect the air elsewhere. If you're talking about a temperature issue, it needs to be checked out by an A/C pro. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Well.....We can't stop you from doing that but PLEASE.....do EVERYONE (yourself include) a big favor and just use 134. Don't get one with leak seal or anything else added.....Those cause so much trouble for your system & shop equipment....It's just not worth it.....It better for everyone to fix the leak properly

Don't mess with refrigerant unless you have professional gauges to monitor both high and low pressures and you actually know what you're looking for. Also read this carefully first http://autoforums.carjunky.com/..._A/C_SYSTEMS_P45460/ The mode selection is done through a series of air doors that are operated by vacuum. When there is either a partial or total loss of vacuum, the system will default to either defrost or on some vehicles, heat. Acceleration can also have an effect on the doors for the same reason. Look under the hood for a small black plastic hose coming through the firewall. Follow it to the vacuum source looking for any breaks, cracks or leaks. Also follow any other lines that branch off because they may go to a vacuum reservoir (storage tank) and a leak there will cause the same problem. Using a vacuum gauge to determine if you have full vacuum at any given point is the best way to find it. You can cut into the line anywhere and splice it back together with a piece of vacuum hose. Find the broken line, you found your problem.
