I have a 1992 saab and just had my ac repaired. It works fine when its blowing cold air but its shuts off alot. A mechanic said its the de-icing vale. Can I remove it without damaging the ac?

The most common cause of icing is improper charge. Systems of all types are designed to quit/cycle or lower flow when pressure or temps get too low. You may actually see frost on a return line underhood which shows there's a problem. Again - that's usually improper charge to the low side, pressures would tell and most will be fine when charge is correct. New TXV valve may be suggested but I'll extend the advice to evacuate and charge again by specific known weight and most of the time this will solve this problem, T
