dodge neon overheating Sign In

I have n 03 neon with 70k and my temp gauge went all the way to high. I am not out of coolant *which i wasn't before the overheating* and i can't see where the steam came pouring out. It was coming from the back of the engine and most likely underneath. There is no steam coming out of the radiator or anything though. Any idea what it might be? perhaps just a belt?
any help would be great.
thanks

Guess:
Sounds like maybe one of the heater hoses is leaking.
They would be at the rear of the engine when viewed from the front of the vehicle looking towards the firewall.
If steam came out,it has to be low/out of coolant and i DO NOT Recommend driving this vehicle as further damage can occur.
They will look something like this...

Just a thought
