heater blower in 2000 Chevy suburban Sign In

The heat in my 2000 Chevy suburban will not shut off. Even with the key out. It will not let me turn it down or up and the ac light is stuck on. Do anyone know what to do?

Re: heater blower Sign In

Assuming you have manual heater controls. Sounds like the relay portion of the blower motor resistor is stuck on. Usually a new blower resistor will fix it. Do you have a test light and know how to use it? There is also a possibility that there is a wiring issue, but far less likely.

Re: heater blower Sign In

clear this up - you turn off vehicle AND blower fan continues to run?

Before someone looks a t a wiring diagram for you-
1) is the CEL (ck eng lgt) on?
2) do you have a remote starter?
3) is this climate control- do you see LEDs that are the desired temp OR dials hot - cold?.... Rear controls also?
4) GC asked can you use a test light and or DVOM?

No remote starts or check lights on. I can get it tested.

Re: heater blower Sign In

A relay for blower is located on the evaporator case. Should be passenger's side looking up on top of the blower motor.

With no test light either get one or give the thing a whack like with the plastic end of a screwdriver if possible it might unstick. That's about all you might be able to do for a maybe to see if it is stuck on. Inconclusive if that doesn't change anything and if it does toss that relay.

Thing looks like this alone but would be plugged in of course.........

If you can't find it or test it this will simply have to go out for diagnosis and the fix,

Re: heater blower Sign In

It really doesn't look anything like the picture this isn't a normal relay. This is a blower motor resistor the doubles as a relay

That's "Autosnooze" for you. It did show where and with a pigtail plug also available for the sucker? Therefore, not sure where to chase it down at all unless this thing lists it in owner's manual?
