My 97 ford escort is blowing out only hot air and when i went to recharge the system the pressure gauge told me that it was at 100psi and normal is suppost to be at 30-45psi. What would make it jump so high and how do i fix it to get my a/c working again?? Please help

STOP! You are probably just reading static pressure. To go any where with this you need to know.....

*The compressor is running

*Both high a low pressures or you are playing with fire!!

*Ambient temp vs pressures taken at 1,500 rpm with doors open. The ambient temp will change pressures dramatically.

* Is fan working or working well at condenser?

Just FYI: The kits they sell are now outlawed in many countries. Not enough info with them and in the trade we call them "Death Kits!!" You can't just add refrigerant without knowing BOTH #s!! The kits don't tell you that. This is NOT like adding a quart of oil to the engine. If you overfilled it you should have some failsafes for protection but can ruin the whole system!!

If you can't get the info don't mess with it. I'll help as much as I can but this is a whole trade not just like adding oil to something like I said.

I don't want regulation except for better info with what they sell out there. This stuff can cause 3rd degree freeze burns, overfills will kill the system, and you are risking perhaps $1400-1600 to not fix a leak or find a bad fuse or relay.

What was the original problem?

Hey, STAY SAFE with this stuff and get help if needed. I'm here to help but if you are in doubt about something don't touch it, T

Re: high pressure and hot air blowing Sign In

the original problem was not blowing out cold air. We drove it one night and it worked REALLY good, like normal, and then the next morning we started the car to leave, turned on the a/c and it would only blow out hot air.

We didnt add any r-134a, we got a can of it that comes with the gauge, and we just used the gauge to test it and it was way high so we didnt add any, we just returned it.
