1999 Ford Escort, Struts or Tires replaced first? Sign In

So, I've recently gone to a local mechanic and Meineke to get quotes for tires and new struts/mount.

Local mechanic states that my front struts are bad and need replaced, followed by tires.

Took it to Meineke(We don't have a whole lot of options here), and they took wheels off, looked at them, no leakage, they stated they were just worn and that the back tires should be replaced first before my struts.(Said something about hopping?) I'm going to replace all 4 tires at once but...that seems odd to replace tires before my struts...Car's like a bouncy ball going down the road.

Meineke seemed to tell me more about my car; right wheel bearing is causing lots of noise, telling me about my tires, ect, so I'm wanting to side with them.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

You should do all your suspension repairs first including the bearing if need. Then get your new tires installed and have it all aligned. You really should have your alignment done on new tires, but you don't want your alignment done till you do your suspension repairs.

Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
