Axle not lining up Sign In

Ok i have a 90 integra that i just took a b18a1 out of (piston rid came through the block) and installed another b18a1. I have all four of the motor/trans mounts hooked up to the car and all seemed good. So i went to install the axles ( i removed the trans connected to the old motor, and installed it connected to new motor) driver side went on fine, half hour job max. Went over to do the passenger sideand realized right away that the dampener fork was in the way of where i needed to put the axle to get it lined up with the trans. So i removed the through bolt where it connects to the lower control arm, just so i would have more wiggle room. So i did that and axle went in fine, no problem. But now it is holding the dampener fork to far forwards for it to reconnect to the lca. So after looking a little closer, it looks as though the axle is sitting to far forwards towards the front bumperand a little to high. I rechecked that the mounts were installed properly, and that the trans mount was tightened down all the way... and it is. Up until not everything else has been fine, its the same exact motor that came out of it, i cant figure out why its sitting up to high. The hoodcloses, so its not off by alot, but off enough that i cant get that axle back installed. And suggestions on what to check next? I know the axle is secure in place, i heard it pop into position so that isnt the issue.

Can you post pictures of how the engine is positioned along and the damper fork and axle?

Sorry about the link, it showed up different for me. Here are a few pictures, hope they help. Let me know if a different picture will help. Thank you for your assistance. Sorry about the pictures, trying to do this from a phone... I'll get on the computer soon and get them right. Ok i think i got everything right this time. If more pictures are needed i can get them tomorrow.

I did "force" everything into place, this is what happened.... thats why its disassembled again.

This is the view of the passenger side suspension, i can reassemble and take another picture if necessary. Notice the location of the axle hub (i left that there just as a placement reference), its to far to the front of the car and slightly higher than it should be.

This is the view of the top of the engine, looking at it from the driver side across the hood. You can notice the "lean" the motor mount has on it. Seems like the front is higher than the back.

Pics aren't showing up. Try using photobucket and copy the link to your next post. They seem to work well on this site.

Re: Axle not lining up Sign In

Something is holding this up where it is. Your should get a very up close and personal look at your mounts. Honestly they are the only thing I can think of that can do this. Put a support fixture on the motor and pull all the mounts. Let the motor down to where it should be and see what the mounts line up to when you try to bolt back up. I remember some of the foreign cars used some the could be on a dogbone and prone to movement below. That would cause it to flex forward and up if bad.

Sorry to see this question left alone so long. Please feel free to take some well-lit pics of all the mounts when you do this. I'm puzzled a bit by this myself and feel your frustration. It sucks when a simple job turns into a clusterf--k.

Re: Axle not lining up Sign In

Thanks for the reply, and i agree with your suggestion. It almost has to be a motor mount, and i think i am going to start by removing them and possibly replacing them all so i can atleast rule that out as an issue. Im on a very limited budget, so my progression has slowed a bit as it seems i need to spend some money to get any further in the repair. I will keep you guys informed as i move along. And again, thanks for the advice! :)
