Control arm repair

2006 Chrysler Town and Country.. 3.8 L. 150,000 miles
Had control arm units replaced three weeks ago.. now where the control arm connects to the steering unit a crack has developed in the same exact spot on both the right and left side steering columns. As a result steering fluid is leaking out of the system. What could have caused this? I have a picture of it, but I don't see anywhere on this forum to attach pic. Thank you for your response

You have to upload your pics to a hosting site and they will supply a link to post here.
I don't know what you are referring to but there is no fluid associated with any control arms.

Almost sounds like the rack & pinion was replaced and it's leaking where the hoses connect?

Yep, starting to sound like somebody cracked the rack housing by over tightening the lines. Time for a new rack if that is the case.
I don't know what any of that has to do with control arms though.

Do you have an email... I'll send u a pic.. The shop that installed the control arms is going to analyze it tomorrow. I think they did over tighten the attachment to the crank house..

That pic doesn't show anything but a piece of the sub frame.

Do you see the large crack in the sub frame and the fluid leaking out in pic one and two? How could that happen on both sides? Pic 1 and 2 are the passenger side and pic 3 is the drivers side.

Yes, the frame is cracked but there is no fluid in the frame. The fluid has to be leaking from elsewhere and running under the frame.

So the main question is ... could the installation of the two control arms have created this problem in any way? I just don't understand how a crack can surface in the same place on both the left and right steering columns.

Yes, they cracked the sub-frame when installing the control arms and they are responsible for repairing that but the leak is somewhere else.
