NISSAN ALMERA WHEEL PROBLEM Sign In

I have just taken my 2001 Nissan Almera Sport+ to KwikFit to have a broken front spring replaced (alloy wheels, by the way}. I'm told that a special tool is needed to remove the wheels, and there isn't one in the toolkit in the car. Anyone know anything about this? I find it difficult to understand. Thank I haven't had to change a wheel. Help!

Sounds like a simple wheel lock key. It has to be in the car somewhere if it wasn't left at the last shop that took the tires off.

Would bet it's like what HT posted. If you don't find the tool if you have a motor club they should be able to remove those for you or a kit, still slow but could be pricey to remove them. Slow - such that your wheels don't get stolen fast of course.

If all is lost here they have whole new sets with the special socket if still wanted at all or just get replacement regular ones if not wanted anymore,

Re: NISSAN ALMERA WHEEL PROBLEM Sign In

Thanks, guys, that's what it was, locking wheel nuts but no key anywhere in the car! The Kwikfit guy told my wife on the phone something about needing a "special tool" and we'd no idea what he meant. So it looks like I'll have to buy a new set of locking nuts. I'll try Ebay, they'll be cheaper there!
Thanks again for your help,
Cheers, David.

Your call if you can wait for Ebay + delivery. I don't think they are that expensive at many parts outlets local to you so you can get going now and know they fit as they are an acting lug nut also and needed,

You still need to get the old ones off somehow. Many tire shops have special kits for removing them.

Sorry, forgot to say, Kwikfit got 'em off by borrowing a "key" from somewhere.

Haha ................ probably one they forgot to return to the last guy. Most tires shops end up with a collection of them.
