05 Chevy Suburban 1500. ~150k mi

I'm replacing front hubs and upper and lower control arms. To remove the lower control arm, it has to pop the torsion bar out of it. I marked the position of the torsion bar in the old lower control arm and but it back in the same spot in the new one and somehow managed to wrestle it in place...

but now there is so much downward force on the new lower control arm that i cant get anything else to go back together. When I jack up the control arm to try and coerse other parts into position, I end up lifting the entire vehicle off of the jack stands before I even come close.

I've loosened the bolt at the back of the torsion bar that all the videos I've seen said to do but I cant tell that it made much of any difference. What am I doing wrong here?

Edit: Got a little more info now.. The suburban was apparently lifted 2" using a new torsion key which would explain some difficulties. Still not sure how to go about putting the tfront end back together, though.

The last time I did one of these I had to completely remove the adjuster bolt and the piece it threads into. That will allow the adjuster to rotate further down and insert the torsion bar into it.
Once you have the torsion bar inserted, get a large pipe wrench tp twist the bar enough to get the adjuster bar back into place. Once you get that into place, you can thread the adjuster bolt back into it.
