Re: Car shake Sign In

No edge wear or any wear on Arroyo tires. Not on Rt 95 at all. Rt 8 and good road. It had the same problems with the other tires. Any balancing or rotating would help for a short time. I wasnt sure what a rotor change entailed but see its not too bad so will do that.

Re: Car shake Sign In

Refresh: If ONE rotor show bad or all different than other side at least it's indicative of a lurking problem. Bet that one also wears pads differently too.

Anything that turn with the wheels is involved. IDK, most brakes are a bracket holding the pads and caliper over that. When that's out of the way might be a screw to hold rotor + need an impact driver at this age.

The other thing is if no screw holding it rust builds between hub and inside of rotor it would show a wobble if spun by hand.

You've done all that I hope?

If you go for rotor(s) best to do both clean off with a gasket scraper the hub surface and just a smear of grease (just that little) it won't rust up soon again in there.

Rotors are likely vented ones in front and not in rear doesn't matter alone. It's the one side different than the other.

A dragging brake could be intermittent but leave evidence I've pounded on EVIDENCE a single bad rotor is one of the dozens of things that would or could cause "shake" - "pulse" feeling usually changes when you use brakes.

FYI - brakes alone can domino into lots of stuff to toss out. Flex hoses, if uneven do those up totally!

Cars cost huge bucks to keep up to super high expectations of road manners at age and miles. DIY or not it isn't cheap nor is buying new all the time!

Not sure when I will bother with rotor now. Crazy car is running even smoother than yesterday. Now if this keeps up the way it is, I can live with it now. Gonna keep an eye on any tire wear.

Re: Car shake Sign In

OK - This was on the cusp of real costly just keep it safe please.
Learn tires: Search out a good pic show or video on very fine clues they leave. Tire places usually fail at it! Wish I was joking - I'm not!

We are about done here on this if getting better it would be harder now to zoom in on now.

So move on as you said you'd keep an eye on it be ready to jump when it changes,

Tom
