01 Hyundai Elantra CEL

I have a 2001 Hyundai Elantra I bought used about 2 years ago. It has 190k miles on it and a couple months ago i got the two front axles replaced at Kauffman tire. After about 4 blocks of driving home my check engine light came on. I took it to autozone and it read the codes p1529, p0501, p0500, u1400. Apparently its a transmission issue? I tried resetting the light and it popped back on. At first it drove fine, but now i notice it has a hard time getting into 2nd and 3rd gear. the rpm goes up before it shifts and it doesn't shift on time. I can make it shift less rough if i let off the gas right before it shifts. I have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to cars, so some advice on what to have a mechanic look at? Also, how urgent is this issue? Don't really have the funds to fix it right now... maybe in like 2 months. I use it 4 times a week to commute to school.

I am completely baffled as to why you didn't bring it right back to the guy that put the axles in. It sounds like he messed up the Vehicle Speed sensor.

I did take it back to Kauffman, they said they didn't see any issues with the car and made it seem like they couldnt do anything about it.

They didn't have anybody qualified to even find the issue, but I'll bet they caused it.

So if i take it back in any tips on what to say to fight my case? If its something i can convince them they messed up then they have to fix, but i dont know much about the problem or how to handle it when i go in to get them to admit accountability

no.. i bought the car 2 years ago, the check engine light has never been on. The axles were replaced 8/23/2013. less than 2 months ago

Oh OK, I misread it. Yes, bring it back to them and tell them the problem started when they repaired the axles and you believe they did something to the speed sensor in the process.
