I just bought a 02 Taurus SES, 3.0 v6 last Friday. It drove great on the test drive but after buying it I had to go out of town and when going up a small hill, it did a smalll shudder. Then when going up a bigger, longer his it jerked pretty hard a couple times and then did ok up the hill but each time I went up another hill, it would do it again. Fluid (tranny) looks good and doesn't smell burnt. Any thoughts on what to check first? I'm a single Mom with a special needs child so I can't break down on the side of the road.

I would have this checked out by a tranny shop. Pay them a diagnostic fee to see what it will cost you to get it fixed. They have the diagnostic tools that will pin down the issue and they see alot of these cars with the same issue as you have. If you think the quote they give you is high, call around to a few reputable shops for an estimate
