04 impala transsmission hesitates/slams Sign In

04 impala 3.8 ltr according to car fax the transmssion was flushed at 70k but not sure of a filter change.I bought it at 92,000 and started to act up shortly after i bought it. The vehicle from usually at a stop or a slow roll will hesitated then slam into 1st gear. Sometimes its subtle and other times its like the tranny is falling out then it wont do it for a long time. It shifts fine throught the rest of the driving range.
Took it to a tranny shop and pulled the pan off and there was quite a bit of grey sludge on the bottom but the fluid was ok since it was flushed at 70k. The shop said because of the sludge it need to be rebuilt cause it was a sign or parts wearing. Another shop wasn't convinced that the issue was in the transmission and would not attempt to fix it cause it didn't throw a code. Other shops said it needs to be overhauled without even looking at it.

Not sure what to do i have a extended service contract so the shop has to be able to pinpoint the problem before i file a claim
Is it that pressure control solenoid?? that was common for those vehicles on that year or do i have parts wearing like clutches or a stuck valve??? there's no code to help out either.

Just some comments on those observations:

* Rule out motor/trans mounts.

* That grey sludge is in every one - how much, eh always some.

* If not plain worn a trans shop should have scanned it!

* I would bring it up with any extended warranty now and seek another opinion....

3 shops have scanned it and no codes also the motor mounts were replaced since one shop thought that was the problem.

Not sure what you mean by it slamming into 1st gear while your rolling. Do you mean when your sitting at a light and then hit the gas the transmission slips and then bangs into 1st gear?

Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

With no codes and what I'm imagining the pump isn't dependably building up enough pressure or maintaining pressure to actuate the parts inside trans that makes it do its thing.

New mounts ruled out, someone's observation of excessive grey mud in pan kinda makes me want that overhauled if you can get that in writing with the warranty you bought and enjoy not worrying about it. What seems a bit unusual to me is the slamming and not slipping for a routing worn trans but probably the pump and I doubt anyone wants to take it out and not just do the job,
