07 dodge caliber only goes in reverse ( cvt ) Sign In

I was initially advised to check and add if needed tranny fluids .i did so and still no movement. I was also advised to disconnect my battery to see if resetting occurred and the problem would go away .. still no results unfortunetly.. i have a 07 dodge caliber (CVT) 2.0 sxt can someone please help me . The car will only work in reverse when i put it in drive and step on the accelarator it makes a whirring sound such as the sound u here when ur power steering is going bad .. im at my witts end . Im at the verge of losong my job home and sanity.. i really need my car to start working can someone please help me .

I moved your question to the trans section and our trans expert Gary will be along shortly.

I think you should brace yourself for some bad news though. A CVT trans with internal problems can give you sticker shock.

Hello,
Sounds like internal for sure, possible broken parts or a clogged screen, either way the trans will have to come out, very hard to get parts for them. If your looking to fix it, i would go with a reman trans, i wouldn't go used on these units. Sorry all, shop is so packed doing 16-17 hour days
