1988 Sierra Transmission Problem

I have a 1988 GMC Sierra with a 5.0 and around 130,000 miles. Lately it has been shifting a little rough so since I work at a Jiffy Lube, we replaced the transmission filter and the gasket. Now it won't shift out of first gear. I got it to second gear once but not third. I checked the fluids and they are all ok.

I guess you shouldn't have changed the fluid, huh?
The transmission has serious internal problems and changing the fluid just made it worse.
