1993 FORD ECONOLINE Transmission Vibration Sign In

Full size van with electronic overdrive trans. Trans runs and shifts fine. Vibration problem starts when you try to drive at one constant speed e.g. expressway driving. Usually at higher speeds but can also happen at lower speeds. The only way to dissipate vibration is to hit the gas or let off the gas. I talked to one mechanic who said this particular model Ford trans had a "NYLON BUSHING" in the torque converter that wears out that may be causing the vibration. Is this true??? Can anyone help.

Re: 1993 FORD ECONOLINE Transmission Vibration Sign In

A couple of things come to mind to check: U-joints and flex plate. U-joints, generally, will give a vibration on decel, but.... The flex plate, if cracked, generally will give a vibration all of the time, but worth a look see. Haven't heard about the nylon bushing on the TC. There are a couple of Ford specific guys around; Maybe they'll see this and add suggestions.

Thank you. I will check flex plate as I have already replaced both U-joints.
