I have what I hope is not a major problem with the Transaxle for my 1993 Mercury Tracer Station Wagon (1.9L engine). It is leaking Tranny fluid big time. My wife works only 3 miles from home and when she arrives at work just parks it. When she gets out of work she says it looks like about a quart has leaked out on to the pavement. After she returned home last night I put a bowl underneath where the fluid was dripping and this morning I could see that easily half a quart of fluid had leaked out over night. The fluid is not discolored, it looks like it just came out of the original container. The tranny shifts fine, no problems at all there, no slipping either and funny no noises. Can anyone give me an idea where or in what locations the fluid can be leaking from? I have to add at least a quart of ATF a day and it is only getting worse. I am disabled and on a fixed income and cannot afford to bring it to a service garage (We all know service garages won't take payments). I am hoping it is a seal or gasket that I can replace myself. Please, does anyone have ideas or suggestions as to where I look to find the leak? Thank you. Unsure

Well you obviously know that the leak is bad. It sould be fairly easy to find. I would inspect to see if the leak is worse with the engine running. If it is could be serious. You might have to clean the suspected areas it make it easier to see exactly where the leak is comming from.
The areas I would look first are the Pan Gasket or for a hole in the pan, both Axle output seals, and the cooler lines to the radiator.

Thanks tut2261, I did check and it leaks a lot but only while engine is off. It don't leak much if any while driving. I looked and there is some rust on the pan so I'm thinking maybe it rusted through and there may be a pin hole in the pan itself. If I clean it up good, do you thing maybe some JB Weld would work? I appreciate your help.
