 I have a 1994 Toyota half-ton pick up with manual transmission. About three days ago I noticed that when I put it into fifth gear it would slip out and I would have to shift more forcefully. The problem became much worse today. it would slip out of third but I could hold it in gear by pushing on the stick; it would not go into 4th at all, making a grinding sound when i would attempt to put it in 4th; and 5th would slip out multiple times before finally catching. i have taken it to a Toyota dealership. However, since i am a woman i am concerned that I may not get a truthful diagnosis. Does anyone have any insight on what might be causing the problem. It's an old truck and probably not worth an expensive transmission repair.
