just had my 1994 ford explorer transmission rebuilt for $2100. had previously had problem with not correctly shifting out of first gear without high reving and 4-5 rpm. eventually front seal cracked so had rebuilt. Drove home from shop okay, but with each venture out it is getting worse and worse for the automatic to shift from first gear to second and the last time i drove it did not want to shift at all. shouldn't the shop have checked the shift cables, fluid, and/or all things pertaining to performance of the transmission to ensure it was working as it should? what can be the cause of this shift problem? once it does shift it runs great, shifting through the passing gears just fine. HELP ME PLEASE

You just had it rebuilt. You said it was fine for at least the ride home and probably shop test drove and behaved also but it should just go back as you just had it done, T

Did they replace any hard parts in the transmission besides frictions and steels? what is the shop's labor rate? $2100 seems kind of steep unless they replaced some major parts such as drums, pumps, planets, etc. You could of had a reman transmission installed for that kind of price. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
