i have a 1995 dodge stealth that the speedometer stopped working so i thought that i should go and get a speedometer cable for it at the junk yard however while there i asked the guy to help me out with it and he said that it needed a speedometer sensor because it was built like the 96 and it doesn't have the cable the car is a manual transmission, anyway i went to the part store and bought the sensor and he showed me the diagram of how to put it in but i cant find where on the actual car.. at this point im really pissed cause i cant get it to work and i need help if you have any ideas or links it would be greatly appreciated i have also looked at the 3000 gt and it doesnt fit either neither does the 1994 dodge stealth and the older years Specifications 2,972 cc 3 liters 6 V front transverse engine with 91.1 mm bore, 76 mm stroke, 10 compression ratio, double overhead cam and four valves per cylinder Exterior - Width: 72.4 in.

Is the check engine light on? If the speed sensor itself isn't sending an electrical signal, the engine computer will turn on the check engine light and store a P0500 code. The signal from the speed sensor goes to the engine computer and to the speedometer. If the check engine light isn't on or you don't have a P0500 code stored the sensor isn't the problem. No the check engine light isnt on. Could it just be a faulty speedometer?

Does the odometer work? It's a possibility that the speedometer itself could be faulty. To properly diagnose something like this you would have to monitor the signal at the back of the instrument cluster from the VSS. If the signal is reaching the cluster, more than likely the problem is inside the cluster itself. No the odometer doesnt work either... But the RPM works. Im thinking about just taking in to a shop to have them run a diagnostic to tell me whats wrong.

Quick look shows it's not expensive as things go and said it was on the transmission/transfer case. My guess if vehicle is running properly and it's a guess it that this is the sensor and not dash cluster but not sure. Diagnostic might be the cheaper way out doing that first, T
