I have a 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 Pickup. Its the best truck ive ever owned. But recently the Tranny is acting weird. When i take off in 1st gear, the transmission wont shift until i get up to 2500 or 3000 rpm's, and not until i let of the gas. Otherwise the tranny shifts fine. Ive talked to many of many people and they've all had problems with their trans. on their dodge's. I dont know what to do. Mabey the filter, the bands, the torque converter? i just want to get this problem fixed so I can enjoy my truck again.. Someone please help!!!

Guess: The trans in assorted vehicles sense the load on the engine by detecting engine vacuum - either a direct hose to trans from intake manifold or converted to an electrical message. When you take your foot off the gas the vacuum Hg spikes indicating there isn't much load on the engine and tells it that it can advance to the next higher gear. This in conjunction with sensing the vehicle's speed and throttle postion. I'd just look and see if a hose, wiring is damaged, broken, or not attached for the moment, T
