the Envoy was cold and i started it up and waited about 2 min and put it in gear hit the gas and the transmission slipped but only when I burn out. Than I notice that when I am driving and had to slow down and than accelerate I would hear a noise coming from under the car. Today i was reading about this problem and they said to start the suv and put it in gear and hit the gas and when I did this a couple of times it slipped one or two times and one time the rear driver side wheel kinda felt i the tire was flat or the axle was broke. I put it in reverse went back a few feet and put it in drive and it was fine. Is the trans going out or the rear end or drive tran. I will be driving it 1000 mile next week so I need to know if there is something wrong. Am I hurting the suv by doing these test ? When I start out normal it shifts to second kinda rough but it drives good until I slow down and hit the gas and than i hear that noise but not all the time.

How is the transmission fluid level and condition? Is this 4wd?

You might want to swing into a transmission shop and have them take a look and also find out the source of the noise your hearing.

I checked it while the SUV was running and it over filled and it look red. no it is 2 wheel drive. I just drove it and slow down and accelerated not fast but hit the paddle fast but not to over accelerate and heard the noise every time i did this. It sounded like it was coming where the trans and engine connect. Could it be some kind of engine or trans mount. If i slow down with the brakes I sometimes get a noise from the rear driver side wheel. I wonder if that brake is sometimes locking up. As for the slipping when it caches it can be very rough but it only seems to to that when it''s cold.

Locking up brakes wouldn't make the transmission slip or have a rough shift. You should get it checked out just in case driving it causes more damage to the transmission.

Top post, first line quoted ">>the Envoy was cold and i started it up and waited about 2 min and put it in gear hit the gas and the transmission slipped but only when I burn out.<<"

Only when you "burn out?" To me that suggests you are trying to spin tires on road on purpose. Is that so?
