I have a 2002 Hyundai Accent with a 1.6L engine. When the vehicle is cold, the transmission slips in the low gears and does'nt grab, but after about 40 minutes of driving, they start grabbing normally. The vehicle recently came back from a 1800 mile trip, not sure when or if the fluid was changed.

Check fluid level and color which should be anything but dark and burnt. If truly slipping no just late shifts or something this isn't a good sign at all. A trans shop should be looking at it and making the call and I suggest doing so before you get stuck, T

Color of fluid is normal. Ok, I will take that good advice and take it in to be checked, Thanks

Wish you luck. At a glance it seems like its pump pressure is inadequate till fully warm. The slipping can quickly take it down if so for any reason. Fluid color, level and odor are nice if good but not telling you it's all fine. It's not consistent to me with some adjustment or sensor issue which is why a trans shop or one that routinely take them on is really the best to prevent you from a total surprise, rendered a pedestrian, T
