while driving on highway aprx. 60mph, i accelerated &rpms went up but no movement from tranny. stopped and shifted gears but no reaction. absolutely no previous problems, worked perfect. plenty of fluid. looked for linkage but cant find. need to know what to look for. minor experience on vehicles & they were older models.

Sounds like it's "take it in time". Fluid level good, no probs before, something went south . Go have it checked.

Step one, check transmission fluid. Cooler lines can wear through or break and when your on the freeway it pumps the fluid out fast without your knowledge. If it is low, find the leak.
Also, does the indicator light say you are in gear or does it say neutral even though you have the stick in drive?
