Hi i have a 2006 Mazda axela 2.3l triptonic. recently i have noticed the gears changing unexpected. For example going down a hill at 50 km/hr in automatic in 5th and then the gears will change down to 3rd and the car will ride the engine slowing it down.Do you have any idea to what may be causing this?.Secondly when accelerating slowly from a stop, the change between 2 and 3 is really quick and the car jerks a little there is no grinding just a slight jerk do you have any idea what maybe causing this? Cheers in advance

The FS5A-EL has engine braking in every gear range except for neutral and park. If you hit the brakes going down hill and the transmission is engine braking, it will downshift. As for the jerk and short shift, you should swing into a transmission shop and have them take a look. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
