Hello All!

I would like to start by saying that anyone who is going to go on a diatrobe about not working on your own vehicles can save their time and their opinions. I work on my vehicles and I learn from doing so, I will never stop doing that and discerning words definitely will not hinder me Laugh

Here's the situation. I replaced the clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing (a CSC TB) on my 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer DE. They needed replacement because I blew them driving way to hard on it and i've since apologized to my car.

I had to replace this on a budget and the kit from local stores was around 700 dollars at the time. They now make a 400 dollar exedy kit for it that I am looking to get soon, but for the time I had to buy an ebay kit. All of the parts naturally advertised that they fit the car. The wear zone on the pressure plate is the same size and diameter, clutch is the same. There was no issue with fitment and this isn't my first clutch so I know it was going well. Everything went back together and I followed the service manual. When I was done I found that no matter what I did I could not get my hydraulic line bled. I used a vaccuum bleeder, gravity bleeding and a giant syringe; I bench bled the master cylinder and primed the throw out bearing before it was installed. If I bled it for over and hour I could get pressure but as soon as I was halfway into the pedal my hydraulic line would burst out of the throw out bearing! It was secured in place without a doubt and I went as far as to replace the hydraulic line and the retaining clip.

I have taken this apart and reassembled it 4 times already and there isn't any issue with fitment. The car fits together well and is a nice car to work on. I took it apart the latest time and I found that the there were measurements on the new pressure plate that did not jive with the old pressure plate. I noticed that the splines that the throw out bearing press into were longer on my old pressure plate the contact surface was the same size but I feel that this is an issue. I am currently in the process of reinstalling the transmission into my car (transmission jack is seized somehow)

Anyone who knows these Chrysler CSC Concentric Slave Cylinders, does this bleeding issue sound like something that your familiar with? I can verified without a doubt that all the air is out of the system but it feels like the CSC cannot press the pressure plate and thats why the line is blowing apart.

1st: Site has a transmission specialist I hope can shed more light on this. I just spent a bunch of looking for some reasons and it seems so far this is a proper parts and procedure issue. Found enough conflicting info this would one job would make me purchase the pro editions for the best possible parts matching and procedures I do not pay for now for all vehicles.

Still you've already noticed a parts difference with the throw-out bearing and the hydraulic line not staying on by a ciip I am not familiar with for use for this type of thing be it brake or clutch hydraulics.

Parts were in fact shockingly pricey while looking around! I do think that's where most of you problems are and may have caused need for some more if only that clip if not intended to re-use it? Sorry, don't know that and didn't show it separately.

Some searching kept leading to wanting the VIN # for this and need for specifics giving a link to or phone # for about this particular job which to me means this is wildly accurate parts dependent - prices for the set varied wildly but all high.

So: Not sure I'm going to have specifics for you to dive into but think the VIN# posted will be requires here too then where the trouble spot is likely.
Just say what happened to the blown clutch please? Was is just worn out and no longer engaging from wear or broken parts found too?
You said you were hard on it and not sure what type of hard driving you did that caused this if so at all? My experience is plain abrupt use of clutch alone vs trying to be totally smooth as glass shifting can be easier on plain wear.

Right now I think this is a parts issue and a change made mid model year all about the throw out bearing that showed to include the slave cylinder as one as you mentioned was the problem spot and I'll agree on that much.

Understand your want to control costs on this most would. Unfortunately you may own now the on line purchased parts with no recourse if in fact the wrong stuff it's been installed and question all that measured or not isn't going to work for this.

I'd be matching up old and new at a brick and mortar parts place for this one. Been there done that with assorted changes or an updated part or parts that usually included an explanation of why is might not match exactly in with packaging,

there some TSB'S for a lancer clutch - sorry I cannot add them, or link them so will try to describe... hope it helps...
brake reservoir must be full- at max line when bleeding clutch...TT157-21-001
new clutch cover bolts- discard old bolts use new - as far as mixing old bolts with new cover IDK. see dealer TSB 09-21-001

a TT is like a TSB but a tech tip

PS- you might want to look into - I do not know if free for everyone - nothing to loose
