2010 Equinox transmission blew Sign In

Nov 2015 3-5-R wave plate cracked. cost 3700 to "rebuild" transmission. GM pays 2700 1000 paid out of pocket. 4 mo. later low reverse clutch explodes, same repair shop says new transmission needed 3500. out of pocket. no GM help. no warranty, only on wave plate. sounds fishy, right?

I feel your pain! OMG - now what? This is barely mechanical but who is responsible for what and what writing you have. Do you even know if your original trans was used to rebuild? Maybe not?
Site has a trans specialist and hope he comes by with ideas both warranty wise and mechanically on this. I think you need to read carefully what the real scoop is who pays for what and responsible for what. Factor in being blamed for improper use or abuse of the thing too might come into this?
Not sure but do smell the fish. Who's fish is the issue IMO,

Hello,
The prolem you had with the 3-5/R wave steel is very common. 3700 is what they cost to rebuild, but only wave plate warranty? that makes no sense, who got GM to pay 2700 on this job? The shop that did the rebuild should give the warranty, what does it say on your bill, remove ,replace and overhaul or remove replace and repair?

Re: 2010 Equinox transmission blew Sign In

something is not kosher -
Did the authorized GM dealer send you to this shop?
was the bill from GM or independent?
IDK it was to have NEW reverse plates (fiber and steel) as well as a new rev clutch housing...
Might want a sit down with GM area rep - 1-800-222-1020 and 1-800-833-2438
Gary - I thought the wave plate issue was 2007-2009 not 2010? #14404: SPECIAL COVERAGE ADJUSTMENT - a little to involved for me to digest and suggest

Re: 2010 Equinox transmission blew Sign In

Tricky points but necessary. This happened to a family owned new car, a Chevrolet product, and the dealership didn't do their own transmission work on site at all but "farmed it out" to a local independent by agreement that would use only the GM parts provided. The owner paid the deductible to the dealer as I recall as all $$ biz was still with dealer to customer. It didn't fail so no clue what would have happened.
Warranty to sell new cars do cover major driveline components beyond the standard warranty with deductibles or not depending on just what.
I'm in MA among the strictest rules next to California for this stuff for vehicles sold new to this state legally. I also know of rules within states that are all different so can't speak for every place,

as I said something not kosher - @120 days on parts that should have been new? this is fine print reading time. I am also unsure on the deductible asitis a special 10yr 120k replacement nothing mentioned about deductible in policy IDK I smell a flim flam

Hello,
The 3-5/R problem happens in 2010 as well, i just did one with the same problem about 2 months ago. Gary

On a side note, ford uses the same unit(slight differences), this unit is called the 6F35 or 6F50. They came out with an update to the low reverse clutch housing because the snap ring tends to pop out.
