89 ford mustang Sign In

I have a 89 ford mustang that has a 2.3l in it. Now the problem is the tranny. I dont know what kind it is. It has a 163,000 on it. What the tranmy is doin is that it wont go into gear at all, the only thing that it dos is go into park. Now when i got this car it just had the tranny put in.

Your trans is an AOD. Have you checked your fluid level at all? You haven't mentioned testing anything yet.

A4LD actually. Which is a modified C3 with overdrive. The first three gears and reverse are all mechanical. TCC and maybe OD (3-4 shift) is electronic. If the fluid level is good and your gear shift linkage and drive shaft is good, you have an internal problem in the transmission. From there you would have to do some line pressure tests to see if you have a pump problem or internal leak.

Fluid level is good really didnt do any tests just looked for vacuum lines that might have poped off and made sure everything was still pluged in. I will run a vacuum test on it just to make sure.

Vaccum problem isn't going to cause the transmission to not have any gears.

Nelt?

There are no belts inside the transmission.
