1994 Ford F150 5.0 Auto 145,000 miles This problem started without warning. I used the truck earlier that day and everything was fine. When I took the truck out again I noticed that its shifting at higher RPM's no matter how light I pressed the gas pedal. When it did shift, it was hard. I thought it would take out a u-joint very quickly. I also the speedometer and odometer does not work either. All of these problems happened at the same time. Any ideas?

Yes, those problems are one in the same. The transmission uses the speed signal to determine shift points. You likely have a bad VSS (vehicle speed sensor) in the trans. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
