95 Lincoln O/D light flashing

Got a 1995 Lincoln town car 4.6l After car warms up for about 2 min. O/D light starts to flash. Keeps flashing until car is turned off. N0t my car. its a friend of mines. I'm just trying to get some info before i look at the car. I never heard of this. I wouldn't know where to start. l please help.

The overdrive light works like a "check engine" light for the transmission. It means the control module is seeing a malfunction and it has stored a trouble code that will have to be retrieved. You will need a professional scan tool with transmission software to be able to read it though. Unless you have access to a real scan tool and not just an OBD2 generic tool, you'll be wasting your time.
