First thing to do is make sure fluid level is correct and if not find out why. After that you really should have a trans shop inspect it in person, T

One more thought - does the shifter feel right or loose - anything screwy with it? T

I'm worried about a car that age now that this will need an overhaul. If it will catch a gear again if you downshift manually but at slower speeds this could be some funky linkage issue. Hope for something silly and easily fixed as overhauls are expensive of course, T
