It has 207k miles on it and when i bought ut the fluid was clean and clear id say about 30k miles ago now has a noticeable brown color was going to replace 1 quart a month so i didnt overwhelm the transmission with a ton of new fluid. A 1 quart change cause an issue for a couple days. What the car is doing now is the speedo bounces after 60mph i have replaced the speed sensor. While driving especially on the highway at say 80 mph the tach will read 2500 rpm then it will jump rpms to say 3000 feels kind of like its down shifting, and my fuel milage has dropped from about 22 mpg to about 18. It has a speed sensor code and if you get on the gas like your passing the issue usually goes away for a few miles .it doesnt act up when under acceleration or when coasting down hills typically just under normal flat road driving. To give you more it has a cat code both lean codes and an egr code ontop of the speed sensor code. Im a mechanic so if it something simple itll be no problem i just dont know transmission diagnostics and have never had any issue like this before.if you need any additional information just ask i even have occasional access to an otc pegasys.

? Just how did you change out just a quart at a time? Suck one out and put just one back was the plan to make it new by constant dilution with just one quart new into the old? Oh well.

It's enough miles for anything but now brown or burnt fluid and slipping it seems is pretty damning for that trans and codes root cause could be from a plain worn engine blowing too much into exhaust and probably uses oil too.

I'd figure out how much in your area it's going to cost for a total trans overhaul and check that engine is healthy enough before I spent much more than diagnostic information before fixing much that might exceed value of the vehicle?

Hello,
What exactly i the code for the speed sensor, this trans is called 4T80E, other than a few common internal problems with this trans, its bullet proof. Other than the speed sensor code any other code present transmission wise? Gary
