Hi my friends! Im an automatic transmission specialist from Brazil, and I'm having several problems with a customer's car. I'm getting really desperate cause I never saw this kind of problem before. The customer came to my workshop in his vectra B, 2005, 2.2. the automatic transmission was almost entirely broken, then I recommended the substitution for a new one. He bought a reconditioned one and I did the replacement. The problem is: after installing it, the 1st, 2nd manual gears doesn't work, seems like the transmission was in protection mode, with very weak response to a high RPM. The tricky part is that Drive and reverse are ok, what doesn't occur in protection mode, changing all the gears normally. But after few minutes in drive, the automatic transmission's failure message becomes at the panels and the car enters in a real protection mode. If someone knows something about it, please, help me! I don't know where to find answers to this problem in my country. Thanks a lot!

Hi Gary! When I pull it at the 1st manual gear I feel that it's starting at the 3rd gear! Perfect description! It seems that I'm driving at safe mode, but the position "D" is working normally, until the system breaks down, showing the error message at the panel. I tried to scan many times, but my equipment (opcom basic B) isn't retrieving any error codes.

Exactly! This happens in Drive position! The low gears doesn't works, otherwise, doesn't work, neither heat neither cold.

Not always, cause when it's in safe mode, "drive" stop changing gears too. In this car, low gears are just like in safe mode, but drive is working fine.

Strange about manual low and 2nd gear. One thought maybe to ohm the solenoids out and see if there all within range. Do you know anyone with a scanner that maybe can pull codes? Gary
