"My car is not accelerating from a stop unless I am in drive2. Once I get it up to 20 MPH, I can switch over to regular drive and it is fine. Any ideas?" 1998 Ford Contour

D2 should prevent torque converter from locking up. Will probably take a trans shop to fully diagnose why but it sounds like something like that it's staying locked, T

Does the engine rev like the transmission is slipping? Check engine light on? Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

The check engine light is not on but the engine does rev.

Which engine? If your transmission fluid level is good, you probably have an internal hydraulic or mechanical problem in the transmission itself. A line pressure test would verify if it is a hydraulic or mechanical problem. Your probably going to have to swing into a transmission shop. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

If this revs up while in gear that's a terrible sign of a worn out trans, T
