Car "coasts" rpm stays when slowing down. Sign In

My question is regarding a problem with an 03 Infiniti G35 with 5 speed automatic transmission. The car shifts fine, except when slowing down, when i fully depress the gas pedal, the engine stays at the same rpm, or it goes down very slowly. When I blip the pedal it goes down normally. Most other cauases have been ruled out, such as TB valve etc... So I suspect the transmission, which had been poorly maintained by previous owner. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

? Sounds more like throttle is plain sticking - right? At pedal on to throttle body and there should be a spring of some sort there so home position defaults to idle - - check or clean that and watch it with engine off so you see what is going on where,

You never asked your question.

This one has electronic throttle body.

I'm confused. If your coasting and you depress the accelerator the engine rpm should increase. If you press it down to the floor, the transmission should downshift and the RPM should go up.

If your pressing it to the floor and the engine doesn't respond, it is probably not a transmission issue.

Check engine light on?
