Dodge Ram 2500 transmission problem

I have an 02 Ram 2500 with a Cummins diesel. Twice it has gotten stuck in first gear. Once for a few hundred yards, today for about 6 miles. Then it goes back to shifting normally EXCEPT it now seems to have first gear locked out even from a dead start. Is this most likely mechanical or a problem with the ECM?

Sure does sound electrical ...
Autozone has or at least did have a deal with AAmco Transmissions...You can call,make an appt with AAmco and they will do a preliminary inspection/scan test for free and see what avenue has to be traveled to correct your concern.
Just tell 'em your an Autozone customer....
You may want to take it in to your dealer for diagnosis...
Dont know this vehicle but i know that Dodge/Chrysler vehicles will default to 2nd gear "limp in mode" when a problem arises ...
