2005 Ford Focus Wagon 63,000 Miles One night I drove this vehicle without any symptoms of automatic transmission issues. The next day I backed the car out of the drive and put it into Drive. The transmission Thumped as it went into gear. This never happened before. I took it to a local transmission shop the next day and the owner said that I had lost 2nd gear and that possibly some of the bands were broken. I agreed to have the vehicle repaired. After picking the vehicle up after the repairs were complete I noticed the following; 1 The cold idle speed is much higher that what it was prior to the repair. 2 There is a HI PITCH WHINE in the transmission whenever you back off of the accelerator after you get up to speed. 3 After the vehicle is warmed up, there is a distinct RUMBLE or VIBRATION in the steering wheel when the vehicle is idling. 4 There is a CLICKING noise that appears to be coming from the engine compartment. This is most noticeaible at about 25 to 30 MPH. After researching automatic transmissions, I have concluded that a properly functioning transmission emits little or no noise. Prior to taking the vehicle back to the shop, I am asking for any input as to what might be causing the symptoms I am experiencing. Thank You for your time.
