Hey guys... long time lurker, first time poster... so i don't know much about auto repair... but god help me in trying to learn... i was never taught by my dad, cause he felt i didn't "Listen to instruction" very well, plus he wasn't a very good teacher... but i tried to learn anyway.. until he died in 2013 of lung cancer.. to which he left his idiot son "me" an immaculate Daytona... which ive tried my best to keep running as ignorant as i am.. until it over heated the other day ago.. you see, i cannot even drive this truck because i'm not yet able too, plus I've been told by doctors with my current condition i shouldn't be behind the wheel even if i was able to drive yet.. so my cousin drives me and my brother around. she gets paid for it and all was fine until i found out she hasn't been doing anything to keep it running correctly "Such as putting water in the Radiator when it needs it" it overheated so we put more water in and it was running great,
but it got a discussion going... we "Really" need to change the oil and transmission fluid since its been a while since they were changed.. i said fine. ill put my money up and she had her brother come change the oil and transmission fluid... something i protested GREATLY since he is basically a drug addicted idiot. but everyone told me "OH IT'LL BE FINE!!!"
my dads Daytona is now currently sitting in my driveway and won't run now. my cousin got up in my face and told me that it was in fact MY Fault all of this happened because i didn't know what "I" was doing.. somebody who admitted he didn't know much about auto repair, hiring someone else to fix it... its my fault this happened.. i didn't even touch the truck... it won't shift into 3rd gear now, and she/they think its because some part is going out due to buying "Synthetic transmission fluid" which after they told me they put that in there, they had already taken the synthetic back out and put the non synthetic back in... all of this while i was at work and couldn't/didn't know what was going on mind you
so my question is. do ANY of you know what could be wrong and how i can get it fixed.. and should i sue these idiots for screwing my only transportation up?
by the way the crack head still wanted to be paid after he screwed my truck up. and my mother actually paid him!. keep in mind I'm not very old, but these people are old enough to know about this sort of thing and still screwed my family over..

Sounds like you need a Social worker forum more than an automotive forum.
We have no clue what went on there or what got screwed up. You need to stop depending on you cousin "Billie Bob" and pay an actual repair shop.

Yeah, exactly what i said. i couldn't agree more. and to be honest i probably do need a social worker at this point. my question was more can synthetic transmission fluid destroy the transmission though
