I had my 1996 Jeeps Transmission repaired at a shop, it cost me $1900 for the repair (rebuilt). I have only driven it aroiund 800 miles since the repair. It is having problems going into second (grinding). Is the repair shop responsable for the repair? help?

Yes, I would expect it to be covered, assuming it was done within the last year, unless they could prove that you caused it somehow through abuse or neglect. You should have a written copy of their warranty to go by. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions. The paperwork says 6months or 3000 miles. It has been over 6months because the jeep sat in the garage because I couldn't get the license plate without insurance so I had to park it until I was able to get it insured, the mileage shows that it was only driven under 800 miles since the repair. How do I get the shop to honor the warranty?

If your paperwork says 6 months warranty and your over 6 months, then you already answered your question. He's not required to do anything for you. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

maree; Is this an automatic trans? Or a manual? From the cost, I'm assuming automatic. Before getting too excited, I'd suggest that you, very nicely, ask the trans. shop to take a look. Even though it is technically out of warranty, due to time, most shops would take that into consideration. Keep in mind, a customer's attitude means a lot.
