My wife picked up her brand new Juke Ntec last week after owning abn accenta for 2.5 years which she loved, on her way home she was pulling out at a crossroads when moving from 1st to 2nd gear the gearstick came off leaving the car in neutral. The gearstick was not engaged in the mechanism below and was just flapping around as if totally loose. She was stuck in the middle of the road which I consider a serious safety issue, it was possible to move the gearstick around and locate it by feel in the hole under the membrane and then it was possible to change gear, however it was not located properly and could easily be pulled out again with very little effort. This was reported to the dealership and it went back to be fixed, I put a serious customer complaint to Nissan (not the dealership) and they have given me a case number and are following up. This morning the dealership rang and said that they had received the complaint from Nissan but as far as they were concerned all they had done is refitted the gear knob, they said it is impossible for the gear stick to come loose and be put back. I think they are obviously trying to cover something up as the gearstick now seems firmly in place and there was never a problem with the knob, does anyone know the mechanism who can advise how the gear stick attaches to the parts below and to advize if the dealersahip is basically lying to me. My problem is that my wife is really nervous about driving this car now, she has lost all confidence in it.
